A Taco Bar Is Perfect For Feeding A Crowd

Everyone loves a Taco Bar with its assortment of toppings where guests can create a scrumptious plate and keep coming back for more

Not only does a Taco Bar please a crowd but it is also an easy option for the host as most everything can be prepared ahead of time. Guests prepare their own plates leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the party as well!

Essentials for the Taco Bar include: taco meat, charro or black beans, Mexican rice, hard and soft shell tacos and tortilla chips. Now comes the fun part: TOPPINGS! The options are endless . Here are some ideas to get you started: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions (red or white), sliced jalapeños, sliced avocado or guacamole, salsa (mild, medium, or hot), sour cream or greek yogurt, shredded cheese (cheddar, monterey jack, or Mexican blend), chopped cilantro,  lime wedges, sliced black olives, sautéed bell peppers and onions, corn salsa, pico de gallo, pickled red onions, chopped green onions, chopped fresh cilantro, hot sauce or Sriracha, and sliced radishes.

Easy Taco Meat Recipe

This is the easiest, tastiest Taco Meat Recipe you’ll find featuring dak’s TACO KNIGHT! For more adventurous chefs, we’ve also included a recipe for homemade taco seasoning where Gunpowder Original Habanero Chipotle Hell-Fire Seasoning brings the heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (you can also use ground turkey or chicken)—adjust the amount of meat
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp dak’s TACO KNIGHT (or more to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Step 1: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it’s browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 2: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked beef. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.

Step 3: Sprinkle dak’s TACO KNIGHT over the meat mixture in the skillet. Stir well to combine, making sure the seasoning is evenly distributed. Add a little water (about 1/4 cup per pound of meat) and stir to combine.

Step 4: Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer gently for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced and the flavors have melded together.

You can use this flavorful taco meat to fill tacos, burritos, quesadillas, or enjoy it on top of nachos or a taco salad.

Homemade Taco Meat Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 Gunpowder Original Habanero Chipotle Hell-Fire Seasoning (add more or less to suit your taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Step 1: In a small bowl, combine all the spices: chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, Gunpowder Original Habanero Chipotle Hell-Fire Seasoning, black pepper, and salt.

Step 2: Stir well until all the spices are evenly mixed. Taste a small amount of the seasoning blend and adjust the salt or other spices to your preference, if needed.

Step 3: Store the taco seasoning in an airtight container or jar until ready to use. It can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to several months.
