The Inspiration Behind Front Porch Alabama
How a marketplace for all things Alabama was born
It all started with a weekend trip to Alabama’s Gulf Coast and a rainy afternoon spent meandering in and out of the shops in Downtown Fairhope. Several pairs of shoes later (plus gifts for the kids), I was delighted to have discovered the great shops and their unique inventory!
Fast forward a few weeks, I tell my boss about the wonderful shopping experience. He recounts a recent trip to Lake Martin when he spent the morning exploring the communities around the lake and the many markets and general stores where local flavor is abundant. From there, the idea for Front Porch Alabama was born!
A gathering spot to showcase the best of Alabama
We decided to create a marketplace where you could shop the best that Alabama has to offer—from those unique stores you visited on your annual vacation to the trendy shops you discovered while visiting friends! At its essence, our Front Porch is a gathering spot to share what we love about our great state. We connect Alabama retailers, artists and makers with a community of people like us who want to support local merchants and find new shopping experiences on our virtual Front Porch.
