It’s no surprise to hear that Alabama is football crazy and it was definitely evident at the 15th Annual Boiling N’ Bragging event in Birmingham where fans rallied for their teams while supporting a great cause! Presented by Rotary District 6860, Boiling N’ Bragging is the ultimate gathering for college football fans and community members who want to make a difference. Sponsored by Otey’s Tavern, Sanspree Law Firm, Ample Energy and CBS 42, the annual event benefits the Children’s of Alabama Critical Care Transport Program, which provides lifesaving transport services to children in need.
Tons of Tailgate Fun
Held on Aug. 17 in Crestline Village in Mountain Brook, Boiling N’ Bragging was the hot spot for fans to wear their favorite school colors and get gameday ready among a lively crowd of supporters. Many of the region’s alumni associations set up festive tents to greet fans and mascots from Alabama’s Big Al to UAB’s Blaze delighted all ages. This family-friendly event featured a tailgate cookout and a low-country boil packed with flavor, along with drink specials that added to the celebratory atmosphere. Attendees spent the evening indulging in Southern favorites while mingling with fellow fans, making it a perfect way to get into the spirit of the college football season.
Entertainment and Activities for All Ages
Beyond the delicious food, Boiling N’ Bragging offered plenty of entertainment and activities for all ages. Live music played by “Rockstar” Sean Heninger set a festive, laid-back vibe while teams participated in a spirited cornhole competition. Face painting, balloon animals and bounce houses entertained children for hours. The event was filled with laughter and lots of friendly rivalry as kids rollicked on the lawn across from O’Neal Library.
Supporting Children’s of Alabama Critical Care Transport Program
This event raised money for the Critical Care Transport Program at Children’s of Alabama. Each year, the team transports more than 1,000 critically ill and injured children by helicopter, jet, and ambulance to Children’s or other medical facilities. Team members include highly trained registered nurses and respiratory therapists with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to provide age-appropriate care. This year’s event raised more than $29,000 for Critical Care Transport at Children’s of Alabama.
“Our team works every day to save the lives of ill and injured children across the Southeast,” said Jason Peterson, the Director of the Critical Care Transport Program. “It is partnerships like the one we have with Rotary District 6860 that help us to provide care for families at some of their most difficult times.”
