An environmental engineer turned skincare entrepreneur, Kate knows firsthand how damaging the chemicals found in traditional skincare products can be to your skin and the environment.
Her search for better products was the impetus behind Made Simple Living in Hoover, Ala., which began in 2019 carrying 15 of the best clean beauty brands on the market. Her initial success led her to develop her own line of handmade skincare products in 2021.
“I left engineering to chase after my dream of bringing you the best in clean and effective products. I believe you don’t have to sacrifice performance for clean products,” says Kate. “Through my career as an environmental engineer, I realized just how damaging certain chemicals can be to us and to our environment. I dove into the world of clean beauty, but quickly became frustrated with the amount of knowledge required to find products with ingredients I actually wanted to apply on my skin.”

When Kate is not hard at work creating sustainable beauty products, she takes lifestyle photographs of children, families and pets throughout the Birmingham metro area where she lives with her husband and dogs.
