The Black Jacket Symphony, famous for recreating classic albums note for note, performed Jimmy Buffett’s Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes at The Amp at Lake Martin Sept. 1. Concert goers sprawled across The Amp’s sloping lawn
overlooking beautiful Lake Martin for an evening of laid-back fun set to the distinctive sounds of the original beach bum.

The lake-side party was awash in tropical colors as Buffett fans danced and sang along to the well-loved sounds of Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, Buffett’s seventh studio album. Initially released in January 1977, it is considered his breakthrough album and remains the best-selling studio album of Buffett’s career. The concert’s first set featured each song from Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes. Not surprisingly, the crowd went wild when the album’s biggest single “Margaritaville” was played by the talented musicians of Black Jacket Symphony. The second set featured some of Buffett’s greatest hits including “Cheeseburger In Paradise,” “Son Of A Son Of A Sailor,” and “Come Monday” among many other Buffett songs we all know by heart!

The AMP’s family-oriented, feet-in-the-cool-grass atmosphere was on point for this perfect summer evening. Lawn chairs and picnic blankets covered the grassy lawn where music fans channeled the spirit of Jimmy Buffett while overlooking the calm waters of Lake Martin. With plenty of tropical inspired drinks flowing, “parrot heads” of all ages danced the night away to close out Labor Day Weekend at the lake.

The brainchild of J. Willoughby and Damon Johnson, Black Jacket Symphony has been performing since 2009 recreating the sounds of classic rock albums. The concerts center around one album of a particular band with each song from the album played note for note to authentically capture the original  sounds. The band features rotating musicians who are handpicked based on their style and skills to best reproduce the quality of the featured album. At each Black Jacket Symphony show,  the first set is the featured album with the second set being a compilation of other hits from the band being performed.  Check out upcoming shows held around the United States—you will not be disappointed at a Black Jacket Symphony performance!
