Each spring, Birmingham comes alive with one of its most anticipated events—the annual CCA Crawfest hosted by Coastal Conservation Association Alabama. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Birmingham Zoo, this year’s event on Thursday, May 7, promises another unforgettable evening filled with great food, live music, and community spirit—all while supporting a meaningful cause.

Make your plans to attend CCA Crawfest Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 pm to 9 pm, when the zoo transforms into a lively, open-air celebration of Gulf Coast flavor, music, and community. It’s the perfect after-work outing or family-friendly evening event to kick off the spring season.

Now in its 44th year, Crawfest continues to grow as a signature event on Birmingham’s social calendar. Guests can enjoy a full Cajun-style feast featuring boiled crawfish, Gulf shrimp, jambalaya, and more prepared by Crazy Cajuns, along with a festive, family-friendly atmosphere that makes it a great outing for all ages. The Birmingham Zoo’s beautiful open-air spaces provide a unique setting, giving attendees plenty of room to gather, explore, and soak in the energy of the evening.

Entertainment is a highlight, with perennial Birmingham favorite TUB: The Unknamed Band taking the stage. Known for their high-energy, improvisational performances, TUB is a psychedelic jam band rooted in the music of the Grateful Dead, Phish, and Widespread Panic—blending elements of rock, funk, jazz, and Southern jam-band culture into every show. Their sets are known for musical exploration and spontaneity, creating a crowd-driven experience that keeps the energy going all night.
