Smoking ribs is an art that takes time and patience to perfect. The key to a great rack of ribs is to start with high-quality meat. From there, you’ll need a good rub and a flavorful sauce—we’re using Perfect Bite Rib Rub and Perfect Bite Sassy Heat BBQ Sauce.
Ingredients
- Ribs of your choice
- Perfect Bite Rib Rub
- Perfect Bite Sassy Heat BBQ Sauce
- Apple juice (optional)
Directions
Step 1: Select a rack of ribs with well-marbled fat to keep the ribs moist and flavorful as they smoke. Trim any excess fat from the ribs, but be sure to leave a good layer of fat on the meat to help keep it moist.
Step 2: Now it’s time to season the ribs with Perfect Bite Rib Rub evenly on both sides, using about 1 tablespoon of rub per pound of meat.
Step 3: Once the ribs are seasoned, it’s time to smoke them. Preheat your smoker to 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit and place the ribs on the smoker grate. Be sure to use a water pan in the smoker or spritz the ribs with apple juice every 30 to 45 minutes to help keep the ribs moist as they cook. Smoke the ribs for about 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone easily.
Step 4: After about 3 hours, wrap the ribs in foil or butcher paper and return them to the smoker for another hour. During this last hour of smoking, brush the ribs with Perfect Bite Sassy Heat BBQ Sauce to add a spicy flavor to the meat. Be sure to baste the ribs every 15 minutes to ensure even coverage. Once the ribs are done smoking, let them rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making for a more tender and flavorful rib.
