We found a few local startups that are changing the Magic City business game. Keep scrolling for info on four of your new favorite companies.

1. Front Porch Alabama

Shop local from your couch. (Focus Creative Birmingham)

Who doesn’t love online shopping? What about shopping local? This site allows shoppers to find products and support Alabama businesses from the comfort of your own home.

Front Porch Alabama started in August of this year, and with it, users can “Shop The State,” retailers can sell to shoppers outside their locale and shopping dollars remain in Alabama. What more could we ask for?

2. Rome Curate

Birmingham-based interior designer Nicole Roby launched a new e-commerce site, Rome Curate, that encompasses unique styles of art, home furnishings and more. The site launched on October 5 and quickly became a go-to for finding timeless and functional items for everyday living.

If you think you have an eye for elegant furnishings, designs or products, you can become a member of the Rome Curate Trade Program to access exclusive benefits and discounts. This program is open to interior designers, architects, home developers and other professionals in the design field needing carefully curated, luxury design elements.

3. Refresh Clothing

Corey Bishop started Refresh Clothing selling clothes from the trunk of his car in 2011. That humble beginning evolved into a mobile clothing tour taking his items across neighborhoods as a traveling “personal stylist”. 

Refresh Clothing takes a unique approach to fashion that centers on providing clothing as ready-made and offering trendsetting styling for clients of a variety of ages—as young as six and as old as 75.


3. Pack Health

This new facility is nearly double the size of its former home. (Pack Health)

Pack Health is a patient-engagement company specializing in comprehensively addressing chronic conditions influenced by mental health, lifestyle behaviors, access to care and social determinants of health.

The digital platform deploys one-on-one health coaching that helps each member overcome challenges and improve health outcomes.

Pack Health recently announced plans to nearly double the space of its local facilities. Last week, they unveiled the completed headquarters that will provide Pack Health’s employees with an expanded fitness center, large walking trail and extensive healthy food options.
