“Limited Edition” refers to the fact that there is only a certain amount, or “limited” number of serigraphs printed of a specific piece of artwork.  After the edition is printed, all of the original artwork and screens used to make the print are destroyed or effaced.  This ensures that no additional prints of this image will be made in the future.  This is the opposite of an “Open Edition,” where public demand determines the number of pieces included in an edition.

The limited life of the stencil prevents unlimited editions.  Additionally, variables in the process of hand-pulling serigraphs mean that each individual serigraph is slightly different from each other serigraph in the edition.  Minor deviations in color registration, paint distribution, and variations yield individual pieces that are truly “one-of-a-kind” or “original.”

Rick Rush’s “A Sunday Drive” tells the story of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bull’s win of 72 games in a single season. We have watched him dominate the sport like no other man in the history of basketball. Michael Jordan is a combination of Pete Maravich, Bob Cousy and Bill Russell rolled into one. His wizardry on the court has amazed even the most skeptical as he has amassed records that may never be broken. Even his harshest critics are quick to admit that there’s no one quite like him.

But then the Chicago Bulls did something no team has ever done by winning 72 games in a season. With Michael Jordan spearheading the record-setting accomplishment after emerging from a self-imposed retirement, he and his teammates turned the basketball world on its ear. They also instilled in Rick Rush a desire to recapture the incomparable Jordan on canvas. “A Sunday Drive” is a bold expression by Rick of Jordan’s inimitable style, grace and artistry as he drives the lane during the Bull’s march to the NBA throne. In irrepressible fashion, Jordan overcame a grief-stricken emotional state due to the death of his father to lift his team to the world championship, a feat he previously had dedicated to his father’s memory. Ironically, it was on Father’s Day, June 16, 1996, that Michael Jordan once again showed why he is the greatest basketball player of all time. This final game brought home a fourth Bulls’ championship.
